Direction 1The Kotavank Monastery

One of the famous medieval monuments of the Gegharkunik region is Kotavank or the Church of Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God), built at the end of the 9th century in the historical city of Kot.

Direction 2The Vanevank Monastery

Vanevank Monastery was founded by the Bagratun kingdom in the 10th century, but was abandoned in the 16th century as a result of the devastation of the nearby village due to the raids of the Turkic tribes.

Direction 3The Makhenyats vank Monastery

Makenyats Monastery dates back to the early Middle Ages and was one of the prominent religious and educational centers of Armenia. In the VIII-IX centuries a number of great thinkers and creators of that time studied at the Makenyats school.
