Direction 1Gyumri

Gyumri is the second city of Armenia and is located in the Shirak region of Armenia. Until the beginning of the 19th century, Gyumri fell under the power of Persia, then Turkey, because of which it was repeatedly looted and destroyed. The most significant period of Gyumri’s development was the 19th century, when in 1804, during the First Russo-Persian War, it, along with the adjacent territories, became part of Russia, that is, much earlier than all of Eastern Armenia. In different historical periods, the village had other names. Kumayri, Alexandrapol, Leninakan, Gyumri. Gyumri is considered a cultural city of Armenia.

Places to visit. Gyumri Museum of Natioanl Architecture and Urban life, Old Barber Shop, Black Fortress, Gyumri Religious Monuments, “Tango of Our Childhood” movie balcony.
