The tour begins with a journey to Aragatsotn Province. During the day, we will visit Amberd Fortress, located on the slopes of Mount Aragats and considered one of the most impressive defensive structures of medieval Armenia.
Participants will enjoy Armenian hospitality.
The next stop is Byurakan, one of Armenia’s most famous centers of astronomical science.
We will visit the territory of Byurakan Observatory, learn about the history of Armenian astronomy and the scientific legacy of Viktor Hambardzumyan. Then we will visit the V. Hambardzumyan House-Museum, where the life and work of the great scientist will be presented.
After the museum visit, night sky observations will be organized with a professional small telescope.
Return to Yerevan.
The second day is dedicated to Armenia’s ancient history and mysterious monuments.
We will visit Noravank Monastery, famous for its impressive location surrounded by pink cliffs and its medieval architecture.
Then we will visit Areni-1 Cave, where exceptional traces of the world’s ancient winemaking traditions and human civilization were discovered.
In the wine-producing village of Areni, we will visit a winery and enjoy wine tasting.
One of the key stops of the day is Zorats Karer, often called the Armenian Stonehenge. This ancient megalithic complex stands out for its mysterious structure and possible astronomical significance.
Return to Yerevan.
On the final day of the tour, participants will experience the most impressive astronomical part of the journey.
Under the guidance of professional astronomers, observations will be organized with modern telescopes. Participants will have the opportunity to observe deep-sky objects such as star clusters, nebulae, galaxies and other celestial bodies, depending on weather conditions and visibility.
The evening will end in a warm atmosphere around a bonfire, with Armenian hospitality, scientific conversations and unforgettable impressions.
