Direction 1The monastic complex of Kobair

The monastic complex of Kobair is associated with the activities of medieval Armenian feudal houses: the Kyurikian branch of the Bagratid dynasty and the Georgian representatives of the Zakaryan dynasty and traditionally was an apple of discord between Armenians and Georgians. The following expression went around among the people: “Is this your fortress or whose?”

Direction 2The Odzun Monastery

In the 1st century, the Apostle Thomas anointed priests and bishops at the site of the Odzun Monastery, and the name of the Odzun Monastery is associated with the Armenian word “otsel”which in Armenian means to anoint. Subsequently, the monastery was rebuilt by the Armenian Catholicos John (Hovhannes) of Odzun.

Direction 3Chakhalaberd fortress

Yet Vardan Areveltsi mentions this fortress, hidden in a velvety forest along the Armenian-Georgian border, according to whom, after the death of King Ashot Vogormats (the Merciful) of the Bagratuni dynasty in 977, the Chakhalaberd fortress was inherited by his youngest son Gurgen, the founder of the Kyurikyan Kingdom.

Direction 4Lori Fortress

Lori Fortress, founded by the Bagratid king, David Landless (Arm. David Anhogin), dates back to around 1005-1020 and continues to impress expeditions carrying out excavations here with new discoveries.

Direction 5Stepanavan Dendropark

Stepanavan Dendropark is located in Gyulagarak village of Lori marz. The park was founded in 1931 by Edmon Leonowicz, a Polish engineer and forester. The area of the botanical garden is about 35 ha. It consists of natural forests, ornamental plants, small-leaved lychee alleys, and other wild plant species. Various plants were also obtained from Germany, France, Portugal, China, and the USA. Currently, more than 500 plant species are represented here.

Direction 6Dilijan

Dilijan is a city in the northern Tavush region of Armenia. Dilijan is an important tourist center. In the center of the community is Sharambeyan Street, which is considered the city’s historical center, famous for its unique architecture, workshops, galleries, and museums. In the vicinity of the town are the touristic Parz lake, Jukhtak monastery, Haghartsin, Goshavank, Goshi lake, etc. Dilijan is also noted as a center for hiking, mountain biking, and resort recreation.
