Route

Direction 1Sanctuary for Gregory the Illuminator

In the village of Sarnaghbyur, Shirak region, there is a place of pilgrimage – a cave, which served as a sanctuary for Gregory the Illuminator, otherwise called Zagana. There is also a spring here  with healing properties for pilgrims.

Direction 2Hogevank

Hogevank is a favorite monastery of pilgrims, where they come after drinking water from a spring, flowing in the cave  of St. Gregory the Illuminatorwhich, according to legend, has healing properties.

Direction 3Lmbatavank

The earliest mention of the Lmbatavank monastery was left by Barseg, the son of Prince Vahram Pahlavun, in 1191. Based on the vision of the prophet Ezekiel the scene of the Epiphany depicted here is one of the original examples of Armenian monumental painting.
